Step 1

Looking at the final images in this guide on drawing a cartoon forest, this detailed image may be tough to draw. However, we show you that it can be much easier when you know what to do. Also, we will break it down into smaller steps to make it much more manageable.

First, we’ll start with the leftmost side of the forest. You can use some jagged lines for the leafy canopy of the trees, and then I’ll use some curved lines for the tree trunks. That’s it for this first step, and then we can continue!

Step 2

In this second step, we’ll add an enormous tree to your cartoon forest drawing! This tree will also have some jagged lines for the leafy tree tops, but this section will have more volume than the previous leafy section. Next, we’ll use a combination of slightly curved and primarily straight lines for the trunk of this tree. The trunk will be taller and thicker than the previous ones, and there will be a small open space at the bottom right.

Step 3

Now we can add a little more life to this forest in this third step of the guide! First, you’ll see why we left that space at the base of the previous tree, as a bush will fill the space. This shrub will be drawn with an irregular outline similar to the tops of leafy trees. Then we’ll add more trees, and the main tree in this step will be another big one drawn with curved and straight lines.

Step 4

The key to this lodestar on how to draw a cartoon forest is to build it up gradually, and we’ll add another team in this fourth step. First, add another bush at the base of the old tree. Then we’ll add more trees in the background using similar methods to the previous trees you drew. That’s all there is to this step, and then we can move on!

Step 5

This fifth part of your funny forest drawing will shake items up! We’ll add another big tree, but this one will look different than the previous ones. The next tree will resemble a majestic pine tree, which should be fun to draw! The trunk of this particular tree will be thin and slightly twisted.

You will then have a few more spiky lines for the top of the tree, which will help give it the appearance of having many needles forming the top. Then we’ll be ready for the final details of this drawing in the next step of the guide!

Step 6

Let’s finish this composition with some final touches in this guide step! To do this, we’ll add more trees to the right side of the drawing and in the background. Then you can add curved and jagged line details to the various bushes to give them more texture and volume.

Once these details are added, you’re ready for the final step! Remember to add details that you may also like for this drawing. You can add some small animals, additional trees, or some sky details to get some ideas. What else can you feel of to finish off this picture?

Step 7

This is the final step of this guide on drawing a cartoon forest, and in it, we will make this excellent drawing look even better with some colours. Our reference image shows you one way you can colour this image. We used bright but varied shades of green for the leaves and bushes and lovely browns for the tree trunks. You can use similar colours, but you can also choose unique colours! It can also be fun to try new art mediums when coloring.
